Free Centrelink payment calculators in plain English
Benefit Buddy helps you get a rough idea of the Centrelink payments you might be able to get, and how much they could be. Pick the situation that sounds most like you, answer a few simple questions, and get an estimate you can print or save as a PDF.
Every calculator uses the current published rates and limits, and shows its working so you can see how the number was reached. Nothing you type is saved on a server or sent anywhere, and you don’t need to sign in.
How it works
- Choose the option that sounds most like you, or take the short quiz if you’re not sure.
- Answer a few questions. Each one explains why we ask it, and you can leave out anything that doesn’t apply.
- See your estimate, the working behind it, and tips. Print it or save it as a PDF to take to an appointment.

Common questions
Is Benefit Buddy free?
Yes. The calculators are free to use, there are no ads, and you don’t need an account.
Is Benefit Buddy part of Centrelink or Services Australia?
No. Benefit Buddy is an independent guide. It isn’t run by, or connected to, Services Australia or Centrelink, and it can’t tell you what you’ll actually be paid. For an official answer, contact Services Australia.
How accurate are the estimates?
They’re a good guide for straightforward situations, using the published rates and tests. Real entitlements depend on your full circumstances, so some situations, such as couples where one partner is under Age Pension age, can’t be covered. Each calculator lists what it leaves out.
Do you save my details?
No. The calculators run in your browser. While you move between pages, your answers are kept in your browser tab only, and they’re cleared when you close it.
How often are the rates updated?
Most payment rates change on 20 March and 20 September, and many income and assets limits change on 1 July. The rates on this site are for payments from 20 September 2026 and limits from 1 July 2026.
Rates last checked 5 November 2026. Payment rates from 20 September 2026; limits from 1 July 2026.
