Age Pension calculator

Answer a few questions and we’ll estimate your fortnightly Age Pension.

Step 1 of 4: About you
Are you single or part of a couple?

If you and your partner live apart because of ill health, the rules are different. Check with Services Australia.

Do you own the home you live in?

Your home isn’t counted in the assets test. But owning it changes the limits that apply to you.

Have you reached Age Pension age (67)?

No problem if not yet. We’ll show what you’d get if things stayed the same.

About the Age Pension calculator

The Age Pension is the main government payment for older Australians. Services Australia works out your rate using two tests, an income test and an assets test, and pays whichever gives the lower amount. This calculator does both and shows which one is setting your payment.

You’ll be asked whether you’re single or part of a couple, whether you own your home, and about your savings, other assets and income. You get an estimate per fortnight and per year, a step-by-step breakdown, and a summary you can print or save as a PDF.

How the estimate works

Your home isn’t counted in the assets test, but most other things you own are. Income is counted before tax, and savings and investments are assumed to earn a set rate, called deeming, whatever they actually earn. The first $300 a fortnight of pay from work is ignored (the Work Bonus).

Common questions

How much is the Age Pension?

From 20 September 2026, the maximum Age Pension is $1,237.70 a fortnight for a single person, or $933.00 each for a couple, including the Pension Supplement and Energy Supplement.

How much can I earn before my Age Pension is reduced?

A single person can have up to $226 a fortnight of assessable income before the pension is reduced. For a couple it’s $396 combined. After that, the pension drops by 50 cents for each $1 (25 cents each for a couple). The first $300 a fortnight of pay from work isn’t counted.

Does my house count in the Age Pension assets test?

No. Your own home isn’t counted. Almost everything else is, including savings, investments, a second property, cars, caravans and household contents.

What age can I get the Age Pension?

Age Pension age is 67. You also need to meet Australian residency rules, which Services Australia can confirm.
