Step 1 of 3: About you

About you

How old are you?

Are you single or part of a couple?
Do you own the home you live in?

Your home isn’t counted in the assets test, but owning it changes the limits that apply to you.

About the Disability Support Pension calculator

The Disability Support Pension is for people whose condition stops them working at least 15 hours a week. Services Australia decides whether you meet the medical and other rules. Once you do, your rate is worked out with the same income and assets tests as the Age Pension.

This calculator is for people aged 21 or older. Rates and tests for people under 21 are different.

Common questions

How much is the Disability Support Pension?

For people 21 or older, the maximum is $1,237.70 a fortnight for a single person, or $933.00 each for a couple, including supplements.

Can I work while on the Disability Support Pension?

Yes. Your payment reduces by 50 cents for each $1 of income above the free area, so your total income keeps rising as you earn more. See the working while on DSP planner for how it works at different levels of pay.

Does my partner’s income affect my DSP?

Yes. Couples are assessed on their combined income, and the free area is higher for a couple.
